While books are great (and the one linked above looks like a good one to use) my suggestion would be to get a hold of some of Ellington's and Miller's scores and study them. You can usually get individual ("extra") scores for about $10 each, and libraries may have some scores on hand as well. You could definitely use a book to supplement this study, but you might as well learn straight from the masters. Take a score and just pick it apart...analyze the melodies, harmonies, rhythms, form, everything you can possibly think of. Then use what you've learned in your own music!

How can i get audio from my computer through my Tv Speakers?

I have a computer hooked up to my LG TV; the thing is I’m using a DVI to DVI cable with a DVI to HDMI converter on the end of it for the signal from my computer to my TV. I don’t believe that I can get sound through this cable though. I have hooked up an AUX to AUX cable, just headphone to headphone, into the port that coincides with the HDMI port on the back of the TV. Now the audio that gets transferred through will only come on in a different input. If I have the cable hooked into the HDMI 1 port, it will work but the audio will only be on HDMI 2, I have looked into changing this doing something with the HD output but that didn’t work, any suggestions to how I can make it so both these inputs work on the same HDMI input? - Thanks -

But to answer your question, You are correct about the Nage and Uke part. Ryu kata dori is a designated attack given to an Uke, in this case it means he must attack Nage with a two handed lapel or shoulder grab. Atemi is any distraction whether in the form of a strike or feint that makes the Uke flinch and lose his focus and unbalance him, thereby giving Nage the opportunity to apply a throw or lock/pin. As for the leg lock, it's not exclusively found in Aikido only, it's a technique common to most other arts from Jujutsu to Karate even Kung Fu, so you can't really attribute it as unique to Aikido only. You'd be better off using the technique called Irimi Nage as an example as this is not as common in other arts, but as stated you need a qualified instructor to show you how it's done properly and explain it's principles to you. It's not something you can explain over the internet. Much as I can appreciate your desire and intent to promote the principles of Aikido and it's techniques by writing a report about it, I think that task is best left to experienced practitioners of the art who more qualified to explain it better to lay persons. At most, you might mistakenly create a misconception about the art, since as you have admitted, you know next to nothing about it and may only end up creating more confusion about an already misunderstood art. But if you really are interested to write a report about Aikido, my suggestion is to read up about the life of it's founder Morehei Ueshiba O' Sensei and how he came to develop his art. Issues with cat in heat?

Okay so my cat is a stray that I took in a couple years ago when she was pregnant. She's the sweetest thing, but she pees all over stuff and I swear it coincides with when she's in heat. My sister in law hasn't refused to babysit lately, she's just been avoiding me. She was willing up until a few months ago, but then around Christmas she dropped me like a hot potato. That coincided with the announcement of my third pregnancy. It was completely unplanned and I was really counting on her to help me. I work mostly full-time, but my brother takes care of her so she doesn't work at all, besides cleaning her little house. Every time I call her she's out. I resorted to calling my brother and asking him to ask her. He just told me to lay off!? He says she's not feeling well. Her grandparents are ill, but they're really really old and she used them as an excuse to duck out of all three of my baby showers. I think she might be upset that I didn't let her throw me one but her house is too small to hold even one third of the guests that were coming. My husbands side of the family is huge and they never miss an excuse to get together. She seemed to understand. But then she ditched my celebrations, including my twins sixth birthday. Then she sent gifts that were not on the registry to both my twins birthday and to my baby showers. Agh, it's like she's trying to get under my skin. Now she has gotten rid of her answering machine so I can't leave messages. I tried just dropping the kids off, but she wasn't home, meaning she wouldnt answer her door. I just heard that she's going back to school, but that will only be two days a week. How do I make her realize that she has obligations by marrying into my family? Two days a week at school means she could still watch the twins in the afternoons and the baby all day on the days she is off. I'm so put off by her attitude. This is her family and she needs to help! She has all day to do whatever she wants but won't help me at all. I've been forced to leave them with my other sister in law a couple of times and she's just not as responsible and the kids don't get their homework done with her, she also let's them eat sugared foods. I don't have the option of not working, my husband still has major student loan debt and a free babysitter was the only way we were getting by. HELP.

I have a BA in PR... What can I do with my degree in this economy?

I recieved my Bachelors in Public Relations this year from a well known University in Tennessee. When I started school all the professors claimed this was an up and coming career that will be heavily needed but now the economy has taken a turn for the worst and there is absolutely no need for PR people like was promised. Others I know have been applying for Administrative Assistant Positions with their PR degree and I have done that and also Leasing consultant positions. But what are my other options? Lymph Node that changes in size?

I have a lymph node that has been "acting up" for nearly a year. It started with an ear infection last August to be exact. Ever since it swells off and on. When it's really swollen it hurts and usually coincides with ear ache, sore throat and sometimes general sinus symptoms. I am just wondering if this is a sign of lymphoma? I would assume that with cancer it would probably remain enlarged all the time or continue to get bigger. I've also read that lymphomas usually involve more than one lymph node. I know for a fact you'll get into Temple, and UMD College park with those scores. Your SAT is good,but a little on the low side for Rutgers. Aim for an 1800+. And try to take the ACT as well,a lot of people find it easier. My cat developed hepatic lipidosis from a flea collar? Anyone ever have this happen too?

I bought my cat a flea collar. Immediately I noticed it had a very chemical smell. I have bought other brands before and they have smelled like baby powder or had no scent. After two weeks I could not stand the smell anymore and took the collar off. Shortly after putting the collar on I noticed my cat had started eating less and eventually stopped eating. I brought him in to the vet and found out he had heaptic lipidosis. When I explained to the vet that his health problems coincided with putting the flea collar on she said he had a toxic reaction to it (almost fatal). I checked the box and there was no warning of serious side effects such as this. Wondering if anyone has had this happen? Thinking of sending the company my $2000 vet bill!

So, our studio offers a pointe-tap class every year (The dancers wear the Sansha T-Perina shoes). In metal music, do you think that the sreaming done is over done now?

Don't get me wrong here, I love a good scream but, it just seems over done now. Bands like Bullet for my Valentin, Rev Theory, and even older bands like Pantera all use screams in their music but I feel they all use it tastefully in other words where the scream adds something to the song. Other bands which I can't think of off the top of my head seem to use the scream in just about all their songs and some songs have screaming all the way through the song so there is no melody, nothing that the screaming actually adds to the song so it's just a bunch of ****! I love good guitar work and great musicianship but screaming to me is not musical. It has it's place when it adds to the song or coincides with the lyrics. Otherwise it's just noise!
